IEPF stands for Investor Education and Protection Fund. It is a fund which is set up under the Ministry of Corporate Affairs to help and promote investor awareness and protection of investor interests.
Main Functions Of The IEPF
- Plan proposals for projects for IEPF including research activities
- Workout proposals for financing such projects
- Plan various activities for Investor Education and Protection in the form of seminars, symposiums.
- Co-ordinating with institutions involved in investor education and awareness activities.
- Appoint one or more subcommittees to ensure smooth functioning of the fund.
- Furnish reports for the central government after every six months.
Recover unclaimed amount before its credited to IEPF?
Investors cannot recover the unclaimed money but they can view the amount credited to the fund. However, it is possible to claim unpaid amount from the company before it gets credited to the IEPF.

- Debentures plus their interest of companies
- Proceeds from matured company deposits
